Different IPL. Different Us.

Something’s missing this IPL season.

It’s not the teams, not the thrill, not even the sixes or super overs.

It’s the feeling.

The magic that used to make IPL feel like the biggest celebration of the year? It’s just… not hitting the same anymore.

📚 Back Then: When IPL Was Everything

There was a time when IPL wasn’t just a cricket tournament — it was the highlight of our day, our group chats before group chats existed. No job pressure, no adulting. Just us, our gang of friends, and the next big match.

Sure, we had stress — but it was the cute kind. Like, “Will I pass my maths exam?” not “Will I ever find job satisfaction?”

And oh boy, the school days during IPL were wild!

Every morning started with a debate:

“RCB will bounce back, bro, mark my words.”

“CSK is finished. Dhoni can’t carry the team alone!”

“Don’t come to school if MI loses tonight!”

We didn’t just watch IPL — we lived it.

🎮 Hand Cricket, Sony MAX & Secret Matches in Class

Remember Hand Cricket? Or as we proudly called it — Odd-Even?

We made our own mini-IPL inside classrooms, drawing fixtures in rough copies, playing during lunch breaks, or even while the teacher was writing on the blackboard (sorry, ma’am 🙈). We were rebels with a reason — to finish our matches before the bell rang.

Back then, there was no Hotstar, no fancy apps. It was Sony MAX, a comfy couch, and snacks that tasted better because the whole family was watching together. No buffering. No distractions. Just cricket and pure joy.

🤳 Then vs Now: What Changed?

Now, even during IPL season, the conversations are different.

No more:

“Who will win the Orange Cap?”

It’s more like:

“Did you apply to that company?”

Those crazy classroom matches are now replaced by coffee-fueled coding sessions. “Odd-Even” is now stuck behind the screen of 0s and 1s. The priorities have shifted — and so have we.

💔 The Painful Truth: Growing Up Sneaks Up On You

Sometimes, I pause in the middle of the match and think:

Yaar, itne jaldi bhi bada nahi hona tha…

It’s not just nostalgia. It’s a gentle ache — missing the version of us who screamed at every wicket, who stayed up just to see the post-match ceremony, who waited to meet friends at school to replay the match ball by ball.

💬 Do You Feel It Too?

If you’re reading this and nodding along — you’re not alone. We all grew up somewhere between Dhoni’s helicopter shots and Kohli’s cover drives.

So here’s to the golden days — and the people who made IPL more than just a game.
